International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

ILC Director and current Chair of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UN PFII), Prof Megan Davis, will be at UN Headquarters in New York this Monday (10 August) to preside over a ceremony to observe International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

A day of celebration around the world, International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is held every year on August 9. This year's theme will shine a light on the health and well-being of indigenous peoples.

The full program of the New York event can be downloaded here. Those unable to attend can watch the webcast of the event live on UN Web TV (5am AEST Tuesday).

Prof Davis also spoke to ABC Radio National's Drive presenter Patricia Karvelas on Thursday night about her UN role and about the push for Indigenous conventions to be held on constitutional reform. You can listen to that interview here.
