This study will examine how Aboriginal women are faring in Australian liberal democracy by comparing the record of Australia’s public institutions with that of Canada’s public institutions. This study aims to fill a significant gap in the literature assessing how liberal democracies treat Aboriginal women. The study will contribute to national debate about reform of Australia’s public institutions by making an argument for greater inclusiveness and empowerment of Aboriginal women.
The Australian Research Council has awarded the Director funding for part of this project.
