Applications are invited from later year law students with a firm interest in Indigenous issues for the position of Editor, Australian Indigenous Law Review. This position is a one-year salaried position with a commitment of 14 hours per week.
What is the Australian Indigenous Law Review?
The Australian Indigenous Law Review (AILR) is unique in Australian legal publishing. It brings current issues in Australian law and policy together with developments affecting Indigenous peoples around the world.
The AILR is structured around two sections: Commentary and Court and Tribunal Decisions.
Commentary: This section contains scholarly, peer-reviewed articles by leading commentators on current issues.
Court and Tribunal Decisions: This section contains case notes on judgments or decisions of particular salience, both domestically and internationally. Where appropriate, notes relating to the progress of proceedings still pending are provided at the end of a case note.

What are the responsibilities of the Editor?
- Ensure timely production of the AILR; two general editions each year and one special edition.
- Liaise with contributors to ensure timely submission of appropriate material
- Maintain running sheet, edit submissions and liaise closely with the Director and Editorial panel regarding appropriate content
- Manage administrative tasks associated with the AILR
- Liaise with the Director and the Co-ordinator of the ILC to determine workload of AILR intern
What are the expectations of an Editor?
- To be an active and involved member of the Indigenous Law Centre
- To have an understanding of and respect for Indigenous peoples issues and culture
