Prof Megan Davis helps Woodridge State High School celebrate NAIDOC week

This week ILC Director Prof Megan Davis and Co-ordinator Melanie Simpson attended Woodridge State High School's NAIDOC week celebrations.  This years NAIDOC theme was "We value the vision: Yirrkala Bark Petitions 1963".  To honour this theme, Woodridge High hosted a school event which involved the presentation of bark petitions by class representatives to Prof Megan Davis and the school principal.  The bark petitions prepared by the students conveyed strong messages of what they wished for the Australian community, including to "stop racism".  Professor Davis was a guest speaker at this event and spoke to the students about the importance of constitutional recognition for Indigenous people.
